I have this perception that most pet grooming salons are more into cuts and styles for long-haired breeds. Now my question is: are there salons (or are there actually any in the Philippines) that can really work on facial wrinkles like those of Bulldogs, Pugs, Shar-Peis and the like.

Yes, I know that, as an EB owner, I should do this personally. But I can't deny that cleaning those bullwrinkles everyday is a lot of hard work. Any suggestions?

hi celar peso, i'm not sure if i understand your question correctly. what exactly do you mean by "not natural to [the] breed?" these are mostly facial wrinkles typical to brachycephalic breeds.

Great question Dinomutt. I have seen short haired breeds being groomed at Animal House. Yet, from my experience at the vet...where I had to leave my Bullies and they required any type of washing after a procedure. What I noticed is that their face wrinkles, and rope over their nose was never dried properly and caused irritation to my dogs.

It really bothered me that a vet clinic would have such little knowledge about our breed to not be aware of such a basic need to dry, and clean their face wrinkles properly.

If anyone with a Bulldog knows of a grooming salon, or vet clinic that is up to speed on this, please be so kind to post it here.

If I learn of any, I will post them right away!

hehe, that's okay, celarpeso. there's this grooming salon in tiendesitas which says they have internationally trained head groomers. i really dont know what that means but i'll probably give it a shot.

oh, and I discovered a new (albeit quite expensive) way of taking care of the wrinkles. you know those "clean ears" drops. they work great! because, in theory, those folds are like dog ears anyway. and, i think, it has a soothing effect because my EB loves it whenever I use it to clean his wrinkles.

Ah ha...nice tip Dinomutt :) It makes sense to me, and I think I will try this solution verses water. Although I use baby wipes most of the time to clean my Bulldogs face wrinkles, and especially their nose rope. ;)
