That is not earwax...that is earmites.

That is a pretty bad case of earmites, and it takes awhile for this to happen. It is not a 2 day thing..it is not possible to get to that point, unless for at least a week or more.

You will have to use earmite medication 2x a day for 7-10 days. You must use ear cleaner to clean the ears first, then put the drops in each ear.

Everytime you clean the ears and put the drops...the next time you do it, there will be more black, crumbly goo in the ears. It is the "waste" from the earmites.
After about 3-5 days of treatment, you will see a big improvement, and the itching should slow down. But you must continue the treatment for the time it says on the bottle.

You are welcome. :D Earmites are super common, especially in puppies. They are transmitted from animal, to animal...like dog to cat to hamster to gerbil, etc.
It is relatively easy to treat, and easy to get. If any infected animal is near your pet shaking their head to spread the mites, or laid down in an area and your pet laid their, etc.

There is not a thread about earmites yet...I will make one right now. =+
