:hlp:

I will be going out of the contry in 2 weeks time due to a very urgent reason... I will be leaving my dogs for about 3 months... Some of my dogs will still be in my house and one (hopefully) pregnant dog will go to a breeder friend of mine... I still don't know how I will act on my other lhasa apso, Ph Ch Starskey...

Guys, please help me...:hlp:

First option is:
I am looking for a temporary home for Starskey for about 3 months, everything he needs will be provided.. food, supplements, and others

Second option is:
I need someone who will visit my place (Paranaque) twice or thrice a week for the regular brushing of his hair... and someone who will bathe him once a week or in two weeks

Also, if you guys can give me other options please let me know.
Everything will be much appreciated:thanks:

Sorry to hear jw44...I understand it is very important to keep Starskey's coat in good condition...mat free, or at least dematted properly if ever.
I will keep my eyes and ears open for you...it would be great if someone could bring him to my store once a week for maintenance grooming, I would be happy to oblige you. :D
Anyway, kudos for starting early to look for someone to care for your babies...like I said, I will keep my eyes and ears open to send help your way if possible.
Don't give up! :-8

Celar_peso... Thank you for your suggestions... I already asked my relatives for some help pero it is not regarding my dogs... Also, many of my relatives in our place is going to USA for about a month... Kaya medyo hirap din sa relatives.. I am only close to my relatives on my father side... Kelangan ko kasi yung medyo may experience or marunong sa mga long haired breeds like the Lhasa or Tzu.. Ideally, gusto ko relatives pero di kakayanin.. a "pregnant" lhasa of mine will go to my breeder friend so that if ever she really is preggy, he can attend to her needs...

Animal house is, I think, not really an option.. Di kakayanin ng budget.. magastos masyado.. I will not go to those "commercial temporary homes", alam ko kasi talagang magastos especially if I'll leave him for 3 months...

ChubbyCheek :thanks:... I will definitely give you a call one of these days.. Can you please PM me your number where I can best contact you??? I'm still lost regarding the situation of Starskey... The breeder/friend of mine suggested to cut his hair.. pero ayaw ko talaga.. if you guys know, matagal magpahaba ng buhok ng lhasa compared sa tzu...

I have a househep in my place but he doesn't know how to brush his hair.. Do you guys think 2 weeks of training is enough?? I am worried about the area of the ears, inner legs, and those places that are easily overlooked... I will assess his brushing /combing skills before I leave and then jsut ask him to bring Starskey to a grooming salon...

Any other suggestions, comments, etc..
I am so bothered by time..:hlp:

No problem jw44...I understand about the hair of Starskey...but on a high note about cutting the hair low, at least "may" be able to be kept brushed properly by your helper at this length, and then you can grow his hair back when you get home. The problem with keeping it long, if your helper will not brush him properly, he will mat easily. If he mats in the common places like you mentioned...ear area, facial hairs, inner legs, underbelly, and the tail area...then on top of that he is washing him while he has mats...it will make the mats like cement, and stuck to the body. He would have no choice but to be shaved down to almost bald state if the mats get too bad...it would be too painful to try to demat his coat.
If he is shaved down, or mats have to be cut out...then he will have holes in his coat that will take a long time to repair itself, and make it even harder to grow his coat back. %-)
A nice puppy cut, where not too much hair is removed would be ideal and it could grow back nice and evenly, but easy to care for by a lamen.

I don't know if 2 weeks is enough for your helper to learn to brush him properly. He may do it properly in your presence, then while you are gone totally neglect the dogs hair needs.
Some helpers take 6 months to learn a simple task! Then miss a day of training and they forget how to to it again.

Just a suggestion on the pros and cons of the puppy cut for him. :D

thnak you, guys..

cutting starskey's hair is still not an option now.. ang hirap magpahaba e... he's not really floor length pero mahaba haba na din.. i'm really worried about the daily brushing and combing.. i want someone who has experience or knows how to brush long-haired breeds.. parang di ko kya pagpraktisan si starskey.. i might consider cutting his hair kapag talagang walang-wala ng option...

:thanks: CC.. for all the help.. I still prefer someone looking after my starskey.. someone who can really look for my dog.. hirap kasi yung iiwan ko sa bahay sa helper ko.. pero may sakit na pala pero di man lang niya napapansin.. i don't want that kind of situation to happen.. so, i prefer someone who has some knowledge regarding dogs..

If there will be no one to take care of Starskey, my helper will be brushing and combing his hair daily (he has to try) and bring it to PPH store for some nice bathing..

celar, i would also be at ease if ms cc will look for my dog.. he will be in best hands pero nahihiya ako sa kanya.. (ehem ehem).. magdilang anghel ka sana

thank you guys:thanks:

Somebody is willing to take care of Starskey while i'm out of the country... she is knowledgeable with dogs which is very important... Also, she feeds most of his dogs raw food so there will be no problem with the buying of starskey's food... i was trying to feed starskey kibbles so that the person who will look after him will not have a hard time.. and Starskey will stay in her room.. another plus...

I hope this pushes through so that I can call PPH store for some doggie things...

uy!, commercial yun, discount yun=+

I really hope that it'll push through.. and starskey will have an engrande vacation there..:)

thank you for all your help, mam cc.. you're too patient to answer my endless questions..:-'

celar, i hope peso will get well soon.. thank you...

i will now start buying their things... i need to get frontlines, heartgards, wormers.. hmm, what else? i am splitting a frontline for big dogs to 3 small dogs before... now, i have to buy 3 for each... bigat sa bulsa.. hehe.. also, i cut heartgard into 2 or 3.. now, i have to buy one for each dog since they are going to live separate lives for the moment..

do you have any more advice so that those people who will look after my dogs will not have a very difficult time taking care of them??

You are welcome jw44, happy to give any help I can. :)

I would advise you to leave instructions on the feeding times when you give your dogs...plus for them not to veer off the normal diets. Just to keep their schedules as normal as possible. If they are use to roaming, cages, exercise, etc. Try to write everything down, and give a copy to their temporary caretakers...as well as specific days of the month for their Heartgard Plus, Frontline treatment, etc.

Good luck :bunny:

thnaks cc and celar..

i will make a dog profile for those dogs who will have to stay away from home.. for example, starskey.. he loves being cuddles by people, he loves to hang around cool places, he is agressive when a bitch is in heat, eats BARF, etc. etc

also, the schedule of the feeding time, the anti-flea and tick treatment, etc.

I'm glad that they are going to homes with many years of experience in taking care of dogs.. and they are well-respected in our dog world.. they won't have that hard time in adjusting...

now, mabigat sa bulsa.. because i will be buying their needs for 4 months.. hehe.. the stock-piling of foods, needs, etc.. i always buy frontline for big dogs and split it into 3 parts for 3 small dogs.. since 3 dogs will go to different homes.. i will have to buy 3 frontlines for 1 month... BIGAT!:(
